Rising like a golden beacon at 7,200 ft in South Sikkim’s Ravangla, Buddha Park (officially Tathagata Tsal) is a serene spiritual oasis built for the 2550th birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha in 2013. The centrepiece is a 130-ft bronze Buddha statue – one of the tallest in India – seated in lotus position, surrounded by manicured gardens, a meditation hall, and a museum with rare thangkas. Located 65 km from Gangtok, the park offers 360° views of Kanchenjunga and the snow-draped Himalayas. From lighting butter lamps to walking the 108 prayer wheel path, Buddha Park radiates peace. A golden contrast to Yumthang’s floral wilderness, it is Sikkim’s spiritual heart. For visitors to indiatourisminfo.com, this is Ravangla’s soul. With 2025 night illumination and the Buddha Jayanti Festival, this “Park of the Tathagata” is an unmissable destination for meditators, photographers, and culture seekers.
